For being modular, practical and adapted to most needs of potential learners of Ikinyarwanda, Imvugo Centre's Course and methodology aims to be a reference in the learning of the Ikinyarwanda language.
Such needs are generally related to communication within the Rwandan society, to exploration of the Rwandan poetry, culture and history, or to research projects in Rwanda.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

Ikinyarwanda is an African language mainly spoken in Rwanda as a national language and enjoying a very high degree of mutual intelligibility with languages spoken in the great lakes region, in adjacent Burundi, in parts of South-Western Uganda, in North-Eastern Tanzania and in Eastern Congo.

Imvugo’s first 3 levels of the Ikinyarwanda Course (350 lessons) are built around 50 basic dialogues covering topics of everyday life, from Greetings to Food and meals and from Clothing to Environment.

As the lessons progress, the 50 Dialogues along with the accumulated expressions and vocabulary serve as a foundation to build around all of the other (and many) components of the Ikinyarwanda language fluency, including grammar, cultural contexts and later phonology.
